The Blue Drifters bluegrass band is based in Minnesota, and features a wide-ranging repertoire, excellent singing, imaginative arrangements and clean picking. Guitarist Steve Howard is a former actor, bassist Jeff Breuske graduated with a University of Minnesota degree in music, and fiddler Gary Schulte is a renowned jazz player. Banjoist Phil Nusbaum is a bluegrass scholar/broadcaster.

 We believe that the format of bluegrass music is exciting. Bluegrass has always featured strong ensemble work as well as individual virtuosity. We play traditional bluegrass, original music and also turn country songs, pop and jazz into bluegrass. Reaching out as we do is no gimmick, but our way touching contemporary audiences with bluegrass music.

 Our group plays mainstages, outdoor events, general workshops about bluegrass, and focused workshops about voice and the bluegrass instruments.
