We've departed Driftwood
Camp. On the way to Parrot Placer, we go thru a series of
rapids -- Porcupine, Redside, and Weber. Film was short.
Memory fragmented. |
So, the following series of
rapids is one or more of those three. I won't attempt to
identify the locations of the next five photos. |
|
 |
Somewhere between Driftwood
and Placer we also stopped for lunch at Love Bar. I got
photos but I couldn't pick them out. |
I'm riding in the oared boat
today to sightsee and take pictures. Film is now nearly
gone, however. |

 |
Duckies look like destroyer
escorts bearing down for a depth charge run. |
Uh, oh. A ducky has splatted
on a rock and is hung up. Taco-ed in John's parlance.
Middle of duck is on rock. Two ends with people are bent
downstream. |
|
 |
John has raced to closest
point with a rope. Ernie manages to step out on rock and
free the now lightened end from the current. |
I think these three are
shots of Parrot Placer. I was becoming focused on the
experience, feeling and seeing all that I could. |
|
 |
Because this was our last
night on the river. Tom and Laurie played and sang till
very late into the night. We all practiced our harmony
parts in the chorus of Who Will Watch The Home Place. |
It wasn't all serious the
last night. There was time for "Flipper Kicks"
and the next morning stretching to Tom's
"Aroosteshack" exercises. |
|
 |
And there was time to make a
big pile while many people took final group shots. Thanks
again to Laurie for this one. |
